Boston, MA. June 16, 2015 OnePIN today announced the commercial release of a new service, ZeroX™. ZeroX is one of several services globally available via the company’s SIMplicity Cloud.

ZeroX is a personalized call back service subscribers can use when they are not able to top-up their zero balance cards. Subscribers with a zero balance can request call backs, and can also request balance transfers from other subscribers. The service works only for subscribers with an actual zero balance, which helps prevent fraudulent activity and misuse.

The service is highly valuable for MNOs in emerging markets where prepaid subscribers constitute the majority of the base. These subscribers often do not remember or are not able to top-up their balances when they need to make calls or send SMS.  Having a solution that allows these subscribers to connect ensures they keep their SIM longer and generates more billable traffic.  The service reduces subscriber churn and generates more voice and SMS traffic for MNOs.

This service is offered to subscribers for free.   Recipients of ZeroX messages can call or text back to the sender – generating standard voice and SMS revenue for the MNO.  Operators increase voice and SMS traffic by enabling a simple and reliable return call mechanism. The service also helps to reduce churn as subscribers hold onto their SIM cards until they are able to top-up.

For subscribers, the service offers considerable convenience because it automatically prompts when a call or SMS is attempted but the subscriber has a no balance.   Service prompts conveniently appear, there is no need for the subscriber to remember a short code or USSD string.  Additionally, the services uses personalized information (the user’s name and phone number) to inform the recipient that a known friend is trying to reach them.  This increases the number of call backs, as recipients understand who is sending the messages and recognize that they are not spam.
