Booster X is a value added service within the company’s SIMplicity Cloud offering. The service promotes “top-ups” and other service upsells and enables MNOs to increase monthly upgrades to larger data plans. Subscribers easily upgrade their voice or data package using a simple user interface prior to their plans expiring. Operators increase their revenue by upgrading subscribers to higher capacity data plans and by eliminating down-time between data plan refills. This service, which is a considerable convenience for users, is offered for free to subscribers.
Many MNOs are performing data top-up campaign reminders with text messages or other services. However, with these other options, the MNO does not have the ability to easily offer a higher capacity data package with a “one click” purchase option to subscribers. The MNO simply continues to renew the same data plan that a subscriber already has, but does not have the ability to up-sell the subscriber. With the BoosterX service, a very clean and simple user interface enables the subscriber to act upon notifications immediately. With this service, MNOs are strongly suggesting that the subscriber make a choice at the time the subscriber sees this notification. Because it is a timely reminder, MNOs have a better response rate than simply sending an SMS that the subscriber often ignores or only actions at a much later date.
Some MNOs also have a top-up service which utilizes USSD. However, the subscriber will need to remember the USSD commands to perform these functions. Plus, with USSD, the subscriber has to take the action (via a menu item, or in a response to a text message received). With the BoosterX service, the subscriber is reminded, given multiple up-sell and renewal options, and can immediately provide a response by simply clicking “OK” or selecting a choice and clicking “OK.” He doesn’t need to type anything. Its even simpler than replying with a single letter SMS message, and most importantly, he may top-up with a larger (higher revenue generating) data plan.
The service can be utilized for SMS packages, general top-ups, and voice plans. BoosterX can also be used for any billing related upsell. The service is highly flexible, and the MNO can provide the user with multiple choices that are fully customizable based on the use case.
More and more, regulatory bodies are requiring that MNOs notify subscribers when they have reached their plan limits in order to avoid costly over-charges. The BoosterX service helps MNOs meet these regulatory requirements, but at the same time creates a revenue boosting opportunity. The service creates a win-win for both the MNO and the subscriber.
